Canon EF 50mm f1.4 Video Review
People have been asking on my website www.drewportfolio.com for some more review videos and also asking what my other camera gear consists of. So here it is, This review covers my most used focal length, 50mm. Specifically the Canon EF 50mm f1.4. So this is my take on this lens, it's performance and reliability. Also look out for the cameo from my broken 50mm f1.8 Canon lens.

Sigma 85mm f1.4 EX Lens Video Review
Hi Guys I have finally uploaded the video review of this lens. Some people have been emailing me with some extra questions which I wanted to clear up from the written review I did last week. So if you want to see its size, hear me answer a few questions I missed in the written review and give my findings with the lens over the past 9 months. I think it compliments the written review well.
Sorry the quality isn't great but my internet connection is very slow right now and couldn't upload the full res version without it taking all day.
Hope this helps clear up a few things and in conjunction with the written review hopefully it helps people make a more informed decision on whether to buy/try this lens.

Carl Zeiss Distagon 28mm f2 ZE & 35mm f2 ZE Video Review
I purchased these two Carl Zeiss lenses last year for my Canon 5D MK 2. The Distagon T* 35mm f2 and the 28mm f2 ZE. I wrote up a blog post review on them and recently I have been getting a lot of emails since inquiring about my experience with them so I decided to make a video version which hopefully will clear up some people's questions. It was made on the fly with no preparation but I hope I hit the main points about my experiences with them over the last 6 months.

Painting Experiments Video
This was originally a quick exercise for me to get back into painting after an arm injury but I ended up getting into it and really liking it. I’m not sure why I decided to film it, more just for my own reference I suppose. Was good fun to create any way.
I did do a full length (3 hour) video where I actually talked all the way through the process of painting and talked about other random crap which I may put out there at some point if anyone is interested, it’s much more in depth about what I was doing.
The sound recording is not great, I had a cold and just did it in one take without too much thought so I apologise if it’s not that interesting to listen to.
Also this is by no means a tutorial in anything as I don’t consider myself a teacher or good at painting/illustration but if it helps anyone then thats great.

Instrumental and video 'Monster Shark'
Think of this as a audio and visual version of an abstract painting.
A quick weird instrumental I recorded on the spot and a quick video I made to accompany it. This was my first attempt at a video and it's all from my archive footage I had on my hard drive.
No it is not in time, no the guitar and everything else isn't played well but thats the fun of it, I tried to create a mood.
I really want to get more into shooting video and films in the future, really find it fun and I love the process. I hope to do some collaborations with other artists and film makers also, I love collaborating with people and creating something that you ever could on your own.

Richard Warren 'The Wayfarer' and Music Videos
Richard Warren is to release a new solo album 'The Wayfarer' in October and every week until its release he is posting a video for each song on the album on to his site and YouTube. These are the first two and I love their simplicity in visuals but also love the music, very very cool. I am especially fond of the Instrumental 'Revington Street' ( i'm really into instrumentals right now) and what about a cool name for a song, well 'The lonesome Singer in the Apocalypse Band' covers that if you ask me.

DIY DSLR Shoulder Rig

A quick video showing the DSLR shoulder rig I built for my 5D mark 2. I wanted to start shooting video with the camera and needed some extra stability, so rather than spend a hell of a lot of money on a well over priced pro one I decided to try and build my own. This is the result.
I had to use the mic on my camera to record this as my Zoom H1 is broke so the sound isn't great.

New Camera (Canon 5D Mark 2)
Yesterday I purchased a 5D mark 2 and I could not be more excited. I had to sell my beloved 5D mark 1 to fund it but its worth it.
The 5D mark 2 has 21 megapixels and can out put huge files but I didn't buy it for this reason. I bought it for the movie mode (the great stills quality is just an amazing bonus). It has 1080p HD quality and you can achieve amazing depth of field
due to the full frame sensor. It has great low light qualities which is really important to me as I love the night and it's when I do a lot of my personal work.
I have always wanted to create visuals that can go with music. I have been a musician for around 10 years and always wanted to be a film maker so it was always my dream to get my hands on a camera like this that is so portable and stealthy. I love photography but there were times when a single image just won't cut it for me, I want more information, I wanted to see the other parts of the scene rather than the one still image. Sound and image are my passions and now I am capable of achieving this at a reasonable price.
I have many projects I want to pursue but for starters I am going to spend the next week getting to grips with shooting movies on this camera and researching the best camera stability and follow focus systems. I am looking into the red rock micro systems and the D-focus systems. I will write more on this at a later date once I have done more research. I will also do some reviews on the items that I do purchase in the future.
I am also looking to buy some new lenses to shoot both movies and stills. My first purchase will be the 24-70 f2.8 as it is the best a general lens to have in your kit, with its minimal distortion, great low light capabilities and outstanding image quality. I am also looking into a new prime, maybe the 85 f1.8 (would love the 1.2 but funds will not stretch for that right now) and also looking into a 70-200 f4IS or f2.8 but I will look further into that over the next few weeks. If anyone has any recommendations then leave a comment, I would really appreciate it.
Now its time to get playing with the camera and do a lot of research. Great blogs for movie making and gear reviews are:
