Mark Lanegan Just released his new album 'Blues Funeral' this week and I have been looking forward to this for a very long time. It's goood being a fan of Lanegan as over the past few years he has been releasing tons of music, doing guest spots on people's records and full albums with Isobell Campbell, Soulsavers and The Gutter Twins but no solo record since 2004's Bubblegum. So he finally got round to working on some solo stuff and will follow with a tour which I'm glad I have tickets for.
I just saw this interview on his approach to recording the album and how it was a whole new experience than he was used to so check out the interview and get the info from the man himself. This is the most I’ve ever seen him speak and he seems pretty happy to be doing an interview. Interesting approach to writing the album, writing and recording them all in sequence and only doing 12 instead of randomly writing tons and picking the best. I must say I wasn’t too sure about the album initially but now after hearing it a good few times it’s pretty awesome, very subtle songs and definitely takes a little while to tune into where its coming from and I highly recommend picking it up. Oh and I get my computer back on Sunday so anyone interested in purchasing any of my lanegan or any other illustrations will be able to do so pretty soon.
